These companies are privately owned and operated. The use their own money for financing, as well as funds borrowed from the Small Business Administration. SBICs are profit-seeking enterprises, however they select small businesses to finance. They follow the same guidelines as the SBA in choosing who they will finance. In other words, you must meet the qualifications in the SBA's definition of a "small business".

According to the SBA, small businesses looking for SBIC financing should first figure out which SBICs may be interested in their company. We have provided a listing of SBICs below. Try to find one in your region that invests in the type of business you have (or want to have). Once you've identified and researched which ones would be a good for your company, call and find out what materials they would like sent.
